Back From my Short Tour
I'm back from the short book tour to Wisconsin promoting my last novel, The Vagabond Healer. It was a long trip and wore me out since I drove the entire way. However, as usual I met a lot of nice people and had a great discussion and feedback from the people at the book reading in Manitowoc. Everyone in attendance purchased an autographed copy of the novel, which didn't amount to a lot of sales, but then, it seems that book signings and readings don't generally draw a lot of attendance. Perhaps that will change with An Eagle Unchained, and may change with The Vagabond Healer since I was notified last week that The Vagabond Healer is being considered for the 2007 Pulitzer Prize. Believe me, that is a thrill, but I won't know until April 2008 whether the novel wins or is on the short list (one of the finalists). I have no idea how many novels are considered for the award, so have no idea what the odds are for winning. And as I understand it, it's even possible that no award is given if the judges don't believe there any book of the literary merit they are seeking.
Now that I'm back, I'll be doing more articles about the sad shape our government is in. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
