Quiz 2

It's hard to believe a week has passed since my first quiz, but time flies when you're having fun.  As promised, first I'll give the answer to last week's quiz and then ask a new quiz question.

The answer to last week's quiz is (D.)  A day and a half.  According to Tomas Mann and Norman Ornstein in their book, "The Broken Branch: How Congress is Failing America and How to Get it Back on Track", a typical workweek for Congress has the legislators arriving in the late afternoon on Tuesday and departing midday on Thursday.  Much of their time during that day and a half is spent raising campaign funds, which also occupies their time when they aren't in Washington.  What do you think about that?  Pretty sad isn't it.

This week's question is also from Mann's and Ornstein's book.  How much pork barrel spending was stuffed into appropriations bills in 2005?

       A.  $250 million
       B.  $2 billion
       C.  $27.3 billion
       D.  $34.7 billion

Leave a comment with your answer and your thoughts on the wasted money spent on these pork barrel projects.
